This process is for those adults or children who are 7-years old or older and want to become fully Catholic or who want to find out more about what it means to be Catholic. It includes:
For those raised Catholic but not confirmed, see the section on Adult Confirmation below.
If you fit any of the above categories, please call the parish office (607-733-3484) and we will connect you with the appropriate staff member.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults or Children is a process where people who are unbaptized, or who are baptized but not catechized (formed) can become Catholic. They meet with parish staff and parishioners to learn about our faith and develop a personal relationship with God by exploring the Sunday readings, talking about Catholic teachings and traditions, and sharing faith.
This spiritual journey can last a year or more and adapts to the particular starting point of each participant. There are four major phases: inquiry (what is the Catholic faith about), catechumenate or growth (building and deepening faith and knowledge of God, Jesus), preparation (personal growth and immediate preparation for receiving the sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil), and mystagogia or ongoing formation (living into the grace of the sacraments just received).
Are you a Catholic who is over 18 years of age and who is baptized and has received First Communion, but who has yet to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation? If so, we can work with you and help you be confirmed.
Please call the parish office (607-733-3484) and we will connect you with the appropriate staff member. We will work with you to determine what you need and help you prepare.
